📍Day 1
On my way to the office, I found a little stray kitten curled up on the shoe rack by our front door.
He was skinny, dirty, and totally silent—but there was something calm in his eyes, like he was waiting for someone… or something.
📍Day 3
He still didn’t dare to come close. Instead, he hid in corners, watching our every move from a distance.
We gave him space, gently placing food and water nearby and letting him take his time.
📍Week 1
With a bit of patience (and some tasty cat treats), we finally got him to come closer!
It was a small step, but the first real moment of connection.
(Heck: “Okay fine... but just one treat.” 😼)
📍Week 2
He started letting us touch him—just a little.
He was still a bit shy, but now he’d gently brush against our legs and even let out soft meows from time to time.
(Cue the happy purring! 🐾)
📍1 Month
We gave him his own little cat bed in the office.
He took to it right away and even started interacting with one of our other cats. Still a little cautious, but definitely curious and open.
📍2 Months
Now Heck is a healthy, playful little guy.
He eats well, lounges in the sun, and occasionally leaps onto our desks like he owns the place (which… he kind of does now 😹).
What Heck Taught Us
Meeting Heck made us realize something important:
Maybe we didn’t rescue him—maybe he rescued us.
He reminded us that we could do more, and we should.
So in 2024, we started a small but meaningful project at Infinite Life:
"One Litter Box, One Act of Care."
For every litter box sold, we donate another at cost to a local animal shelter.
To date, we've partnered with three nonprofit organizations and donated over 300 litter boxes, improving the daily lives of 400+ cats with clean, odor-free, easy-to-maintain spaces.
